Healing Black Families

Under the direction of Nile's Edge's resident Psychologist, Dr. Katrina Sanford and local activist David Sarju, Nile's Edge has been working on creating a program over the last year to help support healing Black families one individual at a time. We will be using our highly tested African ancestral healing methods to support the Black folks here in Seattle.

We envision a nation where Black American individuals and families are  flourishing, alive with laughter, community, and unlimited possibilities. Today, systemic fear and othering remains unabated in America and an obstacle to this vision. However, in our view, even more important to realizing this vision is healing Black Americans from  generational racial trauma. Our mission is to disrupt the endless transfer of trauma that  for centuries has been passed (and reinitiated) from generation to succeeding  generation.

Our long term plan is to create a full one year program where participants can delve in to the mind, body, and spiritual barriers that make it difficult for them to thrive. Thus far, we have been able to gather funding to start with a pilot program that lasts 3 months with the final goal of moving towards our one year program.

This program is broken down into 3 important components, the mind, body, and spirit. Participants will receive in depth support through learning African history and rituals, individual, group, and family therapy, nutrtional and physical body support, and developing spiritual connectedness and practices for greater healing for themselves and their families.

Were very proud of this project and can't wait to share more information with you as we finalize details. Should you want to donate to us for this program you can do so through paypal, check, or cash app (niles edge). Please specify that your donation is for the Black Families project.

Blessings!
